Turquoise Memorial Urn

This turquoise and copper urn was fired with the raku process. It is 14.5 inches tall and 7.5 inches wide. The inside is copper. The fern pattern is a glaze resist technique. The dramatic copper brushwork is inspired by the foilage in the forests near my studio where I spend most of my free time. The ferns there often find their way into my ceramic art. The depth of design and color in the glaze is acheived with multiple raku firings.
As with all raku fired ceramic ware, this piece is not water safe, and not food safe. It is intended for visual appreciation and is ideal for use as a creamatory urn. Smaller similar raku urns to match this one are available upon request. Each raku urn requested will be similar in shape, color and style, but unique in terms of the copper flashings, brush work, and fern designs.

Amboyna is a rare, beautiful exotic burl from the tree known as Narra. Amboyna Burls grow on approximately 1 in 100,000 Narra Trees, which are native to the Pacific Islands. The burl formation develops naturally over many years on the sides of the Narra tree trunk. The rare Amboyna Burls are prized for their distinguished dense and complex “eye” and “swirl” patterns that make no 2 pieces alike. It can come in various colors as yellow, a gold brown to a red color and has a fragrant aroma.

This Ring:
10mm wide.
Made up as follows:
4mm Titanium, 2mm wood, 1mm Titanium, 2mm wood, 1mm Titanium.

Copper & Turquoise Fern Raku Vase

This Copper and Turquoise Vase was fired with the raku process. It is 10 1/2 inches tall and 11 1/2 inches wide. The inside is copper. The fern pattern is a glaze resist technique. The ferns in the forests near my Barkhamsted studio often find their way into my ceramic art. The depth of design and color in the glaze is acheived through a series of multiple raku firings. The copper luster is prominent even in the area dominated by the turquoise color. The area below the mid section has turned completely to different shades of copper. As with all raku fired ceramic ware, this piece is not water safe, and not food safe. It is intended for visual appreciation.

This beautiful soft black handcrafted silk bib style turquoise necklace is fully adjustable from a short choker to long matinee length and everything in between. The collar of the necklace is crafted from beautiful sky blue carved turquoise ovals, each one approx. 1″ inch long – paired with large blue turquoise nuggets.
